Welcome to Athens International Airport. Our representative will greet you to assist with your luggage and provide smooth transportation to your hotel. Stretch your legs after your flight as your guides handle your check-in to this contemporary hotel, which boasts spacious rooms, sophisticated décor and stunning views of the Acropolis. If you arrive in the morning, feel free to indulge in one of the hotel restaurants for lunch. Gather with your fellow Adventurers for a private welcome reception followed by dinner on the rooftop of the hotel where you’ll take in the breathtaking views of the Acropolis.

After breakfast at the hotel, we take a guided tour of the famous Acropolis. Enjoy breathtaking views from the temple dedicated to the goddess Athena. Learn from an expert guide about the history of this citadel which is home to some of Greece’s most famous monuments, including the Parthenon. Then we visit Panathenaic Stadium. The Panathenaic hosted the first modern Olympic games in 1896. Junior adventurers can compete in a mini-marathon to win a prize fit for an ancient Olympian! Partake in a lively lunch at a local taverna where you’ll enjoy an excellent meal while being entertained by live music and dancers. Stroll along the streets of the Plaka, a vibrant quarter lined with red-tiled roofs and fragrant jasmine blossoms, where you’ll delight in the museums, monuments and variety of shops. Dinner on your own.
Fuel up on a hearty breakfast at the hotel before embarking on a scenic drive to Cape Sounion and the Greek Temple of Poseidon. Located in the southern region of Attica, Cape Sounion was known by the ancient Greeks as the “Sacred Cape.” Once on the Cape, explore by foot the iconic Greek temple, immortalized in Homer’s Odyssey. Marvel at the wondrous Temple of Poseidon, perched 200 feet (61 m) on the cliffs of Cape Sounion, built by the ancient Greeks in 44 BC in honor of the god of the sea. During your privately guided visit, be awed by the impressive views over the azure waters of the Aegean Sea as your Adventure Guide brings the ancient mythology to life. Begin by crossing the azure waters of Santorini’s underwater caldera to explore the volcanic island of Nea Kameni—one of 2 black lava islets located at the center of the basin. Marvel at the lunar landscape as you embark on a “lava walk” up to the volcano’s rim, which provides an extraordinary view of the Aegean Sea below. Today explore the ruins of this “Minoan Pompeii.” Learn about the volcano under Santorini that erupted in 1627 BC and how this Minoan Bronze Age settlement was buried in volcanic ash. After the coach takes you to Oia’s main square, you’ll be amazed at this picturesque village and how it is terraced down the steep slope of the caldera, with houses built into the niches. Visit old and new structures that vary in both size and grandness. After you explore the village, enjoy a relaxing lunch on your own at one of the many cliff-side tavernas. Later in the afternoon, return to the hotel for a brief respite before heading to the ferry. Head for the island of Crete in business-class seats on a high-speed ferry.
